  • Over the last 10 years 1.7 million apartments have been built in Poland. The share of new construction in the total stock is on average 11.3%, so there has been a noticeable renewal of the stock.
  • A significant renewal of the housing stock took place in large and largest cities, in poviats bordering on the largest agglomerations, as well as in poviats attractive to tourists, especially in the coastal belt.
  • The comparison of regions with a large share of inhabitants aged 20-35 (potential buyers of the first apartment) and saturation with flats shows a significant relationship - in poviats with a relatively large share of young people (and potentially young households) there is a relatively lower saturation with flats. This correlation is not visible only in the largest cities. The low saturation with flats may be the result of a high share of single-family housing in these poviats, with frequent cohabitation of several households and the choice of living in a multi-generational family. However, it may also be forced by a housing shortage.
  • In comparison to EU countries in terms of the level of saturation with dwellings, Poland is, despite an improvement since the previous census, in the group of countries with the lowest level of this measure.
